Usa Handbrake, converte bene ed è fool proof. Non serve alcun tutorial.

A tuo piacimento, diciamo che AVI è sicuramente un container più adatto a eventuali lettori da tavolo.

Credo che tu possa provare con MP4 e codec h264... In ogni caso sono quasi sicuro che tra i presets ve ne sia almeno uno adatto a Apple TV
