Sul forum netgear ho trovato questo e da qui era partita la mia domanda :

"To make the router an access point/switch, you will need to use the LAN ports, disable DHCP in the DG834G(T), and give the DG834G(T) an ip address on the same network as the DHCP server but out of the DHCP server's DHCP pool.

To configure the router as an AP do the following:

1. Change the router's IP address in "LAN IP Setup" to 192.168.1.4 (Make sure this is outside of your other router's DHCP range), and uncheck "Use Router as DHCP server".
2. Change the SSID and security as needed on the DG834G in "Wireless Settings" under "Setup".
2. Connect one of the LAN ports of the DG834G to one of the LAN ports of your other router.
3. See if you are able to ping the DG834G while connected with a wire to the other router.
4. Connect to the wireless network and see if you are able to go online.

That's about all you have to do to configure the DG834G as an AP"

Non è quello che andrebbe bene nel mio caso ??

il fatto è che tu non puoi dare manualmente un ip di fastweb a quel router. la periferica di fastweb non è un router (con server DHCP), ma un hag.

Anch'io sono un cliente fw scarico benissimo con amule ma non sapevo che si poteva scaricare altrettanto bene con azureus o con utorrent è vero?

La logica di funzionamento dei client della rete BitTorrent è alquanto diversa da aMule ma se leggi il tutorial non avrai problemi: http://www.tuttologia.com/tutorial/azureus.html.
