*** UPDATE 5/20/2006 ***

I returned the original MacBook I bought in Ohio on 5/17/206 to an Apple Store in New York. I simply explained to a sales person I bought the MacBook while travelling (as I had) and that since buying it it had been crashing within the first 20 - 30 minutes of boot up. The store was extremely busy, but the total process of getting an exchange unit took about 30 minutes. It would have been quicker if the crowds were less. Thumbs up on customer service once again.

So far with the exchanged MacBook there's been no crashing so it is definite fact that the original MacBook I had was faulty. This MacBook does run hot, warmer than I'm used to on a laptop, but seems to be slightly less warm than the previous MacBook for whatever reason.

il problema del macbook che si bloccava era un problema dovuto alla macchina difettosa, non ad un problema generale dei macbook

PS per l'ustione della stupida col MBP, mi sa tanto da notizia per screditare i nuovi modelli apple.. ok che un portatile possa diventare caldo, ma non credo possa ustionare. E non credo che una persona sia talmente ottusa da tenerlo sulle gambe nonostante senta un calore del genere...

E' stato creato un sito ad hoc che vuole raccogliere un database con le temperature raggiunte con i processori Mac Intel.

Qualche anno fa lessi di un uomo che lavorando con il portatile in grembo senza rendersene conto si procurò gravi ustioni a qualcosa di più prezioso di una coscia...

Non riesco a trovare la notizia originale ma qui se ne fa cenno

Il professore segnala anche un curioso caso di «ustione da computer», che ha coinvolto un 50anne che lavorava con il notebook in grembo.

Opps: Apple ammette in un articolo tecnico che il surriscaldamento dei MacBook potrebbe derivare dal fatto, che in fabbrica si sono dimenticati di togliere della plastica.

E questo ostruisce il lavoro della ventola di raffreddamento.

Insomma, chi ha il MacBook e sente che scalda come un forno, è pregato di controllare.
