con mpeg stream clip 1.9.3b1 (più semplice. serve il codec divx per QT.) o MKVToolnix (più complesso, ma ha più possibilità di riuscita). usa la ricerca per i dettagli, l'argomento è frequente nella sezione "elaborazione digitale" del forum che è quella più consona.

anche questo tool non è detto riesca nell'intento. mkv è un contenitore e quello che fa la vera differenza è il vero formato video contenuto. un mkv può già essere un (avi) divx o xvid. http://matroska.org/technical/specs/codecid/index.html

Il Mkv to Avi (Videoconverter) di iSkySoft segnalato da Kal El si può scaricare e usare gratuitamente senza registrarsi, ma ha pesanti limitazioni se non si paga: logo sul video finale. Non direi quindi che sia un freeware, checché ne dicano.

For some audio converter programs, there is a limitation on audio file's length.To take full advantage of the trial version, you can know its function easier than merely reading the literal description.
Io conosco MKVTools di Emm Gunn, gratis con due limitazioni minori: finestra che ti ricorda di registrarti, solo una conversione alla volta. Direi che si può considerare un freeware.

2) You may only run 1 job at a time.
These limitations will disappear if you register the software, which will cost you a total of $4.99, the price of a Big Mac dinner around here. Also, with these relatively mild limitations you’ll have plenty of time to thoroughly test MKVtools before you decide to support it’s development.

Conosco anche il MKV2Avi segnalato da Flashcream, ma purtroppo per me non tutti i miei file MKV non erano compatibili con quel programma (ci sono diversi tipi di file mkv..). Bisogna provare.

non l'ho provato cmq come programma, avevo effettuato una ricerca rapida per vedere tra i "migliori" convertitori.
cmq credo che tutti i video in formato MKV si trovino in altri formati ...
o al massimo puoi trasformarli, se questi programmi nn ti soddosifano o nn sono compatibili, in altri formati, DIV-X, mpeg
