Due casi diversi:
Open AppleWorks.
Open a new document of the same type as the unusable document. For example, open a new word processing document if you have an unusable word processing document. If you are recovering a database document, create a new database document whose fields are the same as those in the unusable database document.
From the File menu, choose Insert. A dialog box appears.
Select the unusable document.
Click Insert.
Save the new document with a different name.
If not,
Try Data Rescue on the file.

I had to export all the data as a tab delimited text file, recreate the database file from scratch (fields, layouts, the lot), clean up the text file, and then re-import it. I now keep multiple copies of my AW databases, back them up regularly, and only do major operations (label runs etc) on second-generation copies.
